(NPC=Cadence and Carlow McKenna, Gianna Callowhill)
Meleny was in the kitchen with Cadence cooking a meal of human food for her charges. It was at least a few hours since she brought them in to her home after finding the male badly wounded from some sort of fight. She had yelled for her new family and they helped her bring him into the house and up the stairs while making sure the protection around the house was strong enough to keep the enemy out. Meleny didn't heal him right away because she decided to nourish him first.
She found out from the girl with the human boy that his name was Dorian Fowler and the young girl's name was Gianna. Gianna wasn't hurt so she was keeping an eye on Dorian for her. When she left Carlow was still examining him and Dorian was still unconscious. He had passed out in front of her house when she found him. She couldn't help but wonder the last time the human had a good night's sleep.
Meleny abandoned the cooking and went to check on the two humans. Dorian's injuries looked pretty serious so she had to heal him right now. It appeared he was more concerned about finding safety than his own health. The food was practically finished anyway so she and Cadence gathered the food and put it on a tray. She walked upstairs with Cadence at her heels as she carried the tray up the winding staircase to the upper floors which had more bedrooms than any normal house.

The boy turned onto his side, still sleeping like a little baby. Maybe it was the pain that made him turn so much, or maybe it was failure that kept him from truly sleeping. He took in a breath, it hurt terribly. His body hurt, after the fight with the babysitter. He thought that she had been killed but nope she had lived and taken his twin, little sister and friend. Speaking of friend.... where did Gianna go? He slowly tried to open his eyes, but was having a hard time seeing straight. "Gianna? Are you there Gianna?" He questioned, trying to turn his head to see the room. It was blurry, he felt very weak. "Gianna...." He whispered shutting his eyes again. Maybe this was just a dream, and he'd wake up and his family would still be there.
He started to think of his family again. He left, he should have stayed and protected his family. Angelo his twin was now a slave, so was Jasmine and his friend Bianca. All three, taken and he was here, doing nothing to save them. He had it, he wanted to get up and leave. He was going to ask these people if they will watch Gianna for him. He was going to plan, to get his family and friend back, even if he lost his life doing. "Hello?" He shifted into a sitting position, still having a hard time seeing straight.

Gianna was sitting in a chair next to the bed watching the brother of her sister's best friend sleep. She became alert when she saw him starting to open his eyes and mutter her name. "I'm right here, Dorian. I've never left your side. These nice people have been taking care of you."
Meleny placed the tray of food on a nearby table and sat down on the bed. She watched as her refugee struggled to open his eyes and maintain a sitting position. It broke her heart to see him in so much pain. His anguished breathing cut through her like a knife. It always broke her heart to see someone, even if it was somebody she just met, in pain. Her heart went out to him after Gianna had told her the story of how they got to this point."How are you feeling, Dorian? You've been out cold for a while. That must have been some fight. Anyway, in case you didn't know, my name is Meleny. This is Dr. Carlow McKenna."she said gesturing to the thirty-something male. "and his sister Cadence."she said gesturing over to the girl next to her with blonde hair. " Anyway, I brought you some food to help you regain your strength. I am going to do everything I can to help you and I'm going to start by nursing you back to health. If you feel too weak to eat, I'll just give Gianna her food and keep yours warm for later. If there's anything else I can do for you, let me, Cadence, or Dr. McKenna know."she explained.

Dorian felt a little bit better knowing that Gianna was still there with him. Safe from the danger they had just come from. People taking care of me? He thought to himself trying to see if anybody else was in the room. His vision slowly started to come back and he could see three other people in the room. A girl around his or so, placed the tray down on the table next to him. He blinked a few times, listening to her talking about the fight. Her face, looked as if she could have been in much pain as he had been when he was in the fight. The look of pity for him. He really didn't like having others giving him pity, but he kept his mouth shut. He didn't wish to be rude after all, Gianna and himself were safe right now, and both were being taken care of.
"I feel fine." He was lying, he felt terrible still but he wanted to go and find the rest of his family and his friend Bianca. I have been out cold for how long? That comment had surprised him. "How long have I been out?" He looked at the girl named Meleny and Gianna, hoping for an answer. He was having a hard time getting his words out, so it may not have come out so clear. "How long have I been out cold?" He asked again, just in case they hadn't understood his question the first time. He moved his arm for the tray of food. He was hungry, strength or no strength he was going to get that tray in his hands and start eating away. His finger tips just about touched the tray, pulling it towards him when he felt a shot of pain in his legs.
He shook from the pain, his hand moving back to his body. Maybe I should get better then leave to say my family? He thought to himself before his body started to shake from the pain. "Can I drink water.... please...?" He begged, his legs still hurt. He was alive which surprised him, but the pain was all still there.

Meleny brushed off his lie and thought about how to answer his question. She knew perfectly well he wasn't fine and a second later when he started shaking she knew he was lying. She didn't want to startle or scare him so she had to be careful what she did around him. "You've been out for maybe six hours, maybe more."she said. She nodded her head at his request and sent Cadence downstairs for water. "It's ok if you don't feel up to eating. You've just went through a terrible ordeal. Your body needs time to recover."she said. She knew that unlike vampires, humans didn't heal as quickly. She would've healed him herself by now but she was afraid to startle him. She actually liked Dorian even though she just met him. Despite being a little roughed up from the fight, he was cute and she was actually having a good time being his live in nurse. When Cadence returned with the water, Meleny handed it to him.

Dorian sighed, being mad at himself for being out cold for so long. He was shaking harder now, Candence had went for the water. "No I do want to eat...." His teeth chattered as if he were cold, but it was the pain. She was right about the healing part, it took forever. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen somebody needing so much help, maybe it was his mother, or his aunt.... maybe a friend? He wasn't all that sure anymore, he was having a hard time remembering. "I wish the pain would be gone already." He commented back just as Candence came back upstairs with his water. He took the cup in his hands and drank the water down. He started to cough from drinking the water, drinking it to fast does that.
He still wanted to eat something. He moved his hand towards the tray again. His body still shaking. He touched the tray with his finger tips again, grabbed the tray and pulled it towards him. His hand lost its grip and the tray fell, he lend forward to catch it.

Unfortunately at that moment, Meleny's vampire reflexes kicked in and she helped him catch the tray when she saw how unsteady his hands were. Cadence helped her too and soon it was back on the table. She found herself blushing and then wondered if vampires could even do so. She hoped she hadn't frightened him with her super fast reflexes. It wasn't like her fangs were showing or she had attempted to heal him with her blood. In fact, he was so fragile right now that maybe blood healing wasn't such a good idea. "Maybe you should rest some more. I know you've already slept for a long time but you might feel stronger afterwards. The pain is making you unsteady. If you insist on trying again, go ahead, but I'll keep your food warm for later if it doesn't work out."she said taking Gianna's portion off the tray and handing it to her. She wished there was something she could do for him in terms of him eating when he can't grip anything. She would hate to have to resort to feeding him like a baby. She silently chuckled at the thought; it was kind of cute in a way but he was at least eighteen years old, a grown boy, even though right now he was an invalid in her home. He needed her help even though she knew he wouldn't care to admit it."The pain might go away if you rest some more, or if you'd like I can see if there are any pain pills lying around the house. Either way, you'd probably end up going back to sleep because pain pills tend to knock you out for a while."she said. She hated to make a promise she couldn't keep but she really wanted him to get well. Poor Gianna almost had a nervous breakdown (which she's too young to get) as the brother of her sister's best friend lay in a seemingly irreversible coma, or so it seemed.
Gianna was eating her own food and when she finished swallowing it she looked at Dorian's slightly disheveled appearance. She had been worried the minute he woke up shaking and then couldn't grip the tray of food without nearly dropping it. She hated to be pushy and she knew he tended to be a touch stubborn like his sister. "Dorian, let her help you. She rescued us from the bad guys and has taken us into her home. How many people do you know who would take time out of their day to tend to someone who's hurt?" "I wish you'd stop being so stubborn sometimes. I know you're hungry, but you don't seem to be in any shape to eat. I mean, you saw what just happened. So please, sleep a little more and let Meleny know if there's anything else she can do to help. Listen to your body, it may say it's hungry, but it's also saying you need more rest. Don't push yourself like this, please. Do you know how worried I was?? I really thought you were dead. You were out for so long, I thought maybe you'd gone into some kind of weird coma."she rambled as tears stung her eyes. Finally, she was letting out all her frustrations she'd held in until now. She may be thirteen and some people might think she's a pain in the neck, but she wasn't stupid. She loved Dorian and Angelo like the brothers she never had.
